November News

The Western Maine Art Group’s Main Street Gallery in Norway will host its monthly First Friday FlamencoGailReinreception on November 1st, from 5 to 7 pm at 426 Main Street.  On display will be oil paintings of Gail Rein.  Gail has been chosen as our Artist of the Month.

Gail Rein is an accomplished and versatile painter whose works “relish the qualities of paint itself.”  A resident of Oxford County, she exhibits widely and her work as been judged Best in Show at many exhibitions.  Gail also accepts commissions for portraits, one of her specialties.  Gail describes her approach, “Nature feeds my spirit which fuels my creativity.  I do not see the subject of a painting as separate from the surrounds, but rather each as intermingling energies, colors, and lights, and I try to convey this in my art.  A friend recently gifted me with these words:  ‘You are working out of that  “space in between” where the creative fires roar!’ ”

In keeping with the gallery’s holiday gift theme for November, Gail will be exhibiting some recently completed plein air paintings along with her larger pieces.PortraitGailRein

In addition to Gail’s paintings, we will introduce a new holiday sale, a new exhibit of miniatures – paintings no larger than ten by ten inches – suitable for holiday gift-giving.

Please join Western Maine Art Group at our Friday opening to view the collection of original arts, mosaics, landscapes, figurative paintings, still life paintings, jewelry, and more.  Visitors to the gallery on First Fridays will receive 10% discounts on selected works.

The gallery is open from Tuesday-through Saturday, from 10 AM to 4 PM.  For more information, art classes, demonstrations, to find out more about Gail Rein and special trips sponsored by us, please visit www.westernmaineartgroup.org, Facebook and Main Street Gallery.  The gallery is free and open to the public.
