I am a retired middle school English teacher, originally from Massachusetts, who has summered in Waterford since 1965 and has lived there year- round since 2000. My favorite activity with my school students was guiding them to paint pictures and ideas with colorful word descriptions, using words as they would a brush.
I developed an interest in drawing and painting at a very young age, taking lessons in oils, pastels and watercolors. In my paintings, I try to capture the beauty that surrounds us in Maine, from the western foothills to the coast and islands.
My work currently hangs in Gallery 302 in Bridgton, Maine (www.gallery302.org). Locally, my work has been shown in Western Maine Art Group shows and in the Matolcsy Arts Center in Norway as well as libraries, restaurants, banks, and hospitals in Maine. In gallery art shows, I have won several awards for my work as well as many Purchase Prize Awards at summer outdoor art shows. The Lakes Region Chamber of Commerce chose my watercolor “Field of Lupines” for one of its fund-raiser calendars.
I sell fine art giclée reproductions of most of my work. These high quality giclée prints are reproduced on the highest quality archival art paper. The print is indistinguishable from the original and will never fade. All limited-number prints are signed and numbered under the matting which is a nicer presentation than leaving a border. Prints can be ordered in any size and can be purchased plain, matted , or framed. The giclee prints are professionally framed using only the best archival materials with a frame that will compliment each individual piece of art.
