The Western Maine Art Group (WMAG), is headquartered in the Lajos Matolcsy Arts Center, formerly the first school house in Norway, at 480 Main Street, during its art season from May through October. At other times you may contact us through the Main Street Gallery or via westernmaineartgroup @

During the season visitors are welcome to view exhibits of paintings, photography, sculptures and hand-crafted jewelry—all the work of local Maine artisans and WMAG members. A busy season with exciting themed artwork and special events, student art shows, and art lectures are planned for this year. Art classes will be held in the Matolcsy Arts Center during the summer as well. Plan on visiting often.

Special events, guest artist exhibits, themed art exhibits, art classes, student art shows and lectures are planned for the Center this season beginning in May 2016.  First Friday receptions will be held during the season to open new shows and celebrate the artists.

The Center is free and open to the public. The Center, at 480 Main Street, may also be rented out by the public for special events. Please contact the Western Maine Art Group at for further information.  We also welcome your ideas for exhibits and events.

Hone your drawing skills by  working with a live model.

Whether you have dabbled in the arts previously and would like to revisit it, or are a beginner looking for new challenges, the Wednesday afternoon Art Lessons might be just what you are looking for.

Holiday Party and Art Show

This year’s holiday art show will feature works that measure 10″X10″.  These little gems will be for sale for only $100 each!  A portion of the proceeds will benefit the fund to renovate the Matolcsy Art Center.
