Biography:

Irina began pursuing her love of art in 1980. She attended East Carolina University and received a second degree in art concentrating in studio art, art history, sculpture, jewelry, and education. She taught as an adjunct professor in Art Appreciation and Drawing for seven years. She also taught K-12 until moving to Maine.

She joined Western Maine Art Group and served as President and Vice-president for 6 years during which time she helped start the Main Street Gallery, aided in the renovation of the Matolcsy Arts Center and helped run the Norway Arts Festival.

Currently, she has allowed herself to pursue her art more seriously amidst the breathtaking beauty of Maine. She is thankful to have won awards for her artwork, both in North Carolina as well as in Maine. Irina has been a Docent at the Portland Museum of Art for the past 3 years.

Artist Statement:

My challenge is to capture that special moment that transforms something ordinary to something very special.
