Ellen was raised in the foothills of Western Maine in the small town of Paris. Being in a rural setting she was living among the glories of nature. She is very interested in the wild flowers and birds that inhabit this beautiful part of the State. Ellen became interested in music and graduated with a degree in music. She has always loved to draw and paint also and has become significantly more prolific in producing art in watercolors and oils. These last few years she has become very interested in photography.
Ellen started in photography by taking a course with Skip Churchill from Hebron, ME., who is a professional photographer. She has a studio in her home where she is now specializing in Child photography. Ellen also takes family, school pictures, nature and still life photographs. She is also specializing in designer wedding dresses painted photography. Ellen uses Black and White or Sepia photographs and then artfully paints them with photo oil paints, for a very unique and ethereal look.
Ellen has shown work in the WMAG gallery in Norway, The Bethel Art Fair, The Paris Hill Founders Day Exhibit, The Sidewalk Art Shows in Auburn, The Norway Sidewalk Art Show, The Lyceum Gallery in Lewiston, The Deertrees Theatre in Harrison, The Atrium Gallery in USM’s Lewiston Campus, The Moore Park Art Show in Paris, and Time Gallery in Portland, Maine. Ellen has two photographs on the Art Wall in Auburn, Me. and has won several other awards including a first place, second place in Show, a purchase award and honorable mentions.
