wild life wood sculptures
Don Best is a wood artist, best known for his wall dancers and figures. He builds assemblages made up of carved and painted parts put together using epoxy, brass wire and wood glues.
Don has a BFA from Maine College of Art in Portland. He has done extensive studies in wood art at Haystack Mountain School of Art of wedding dress on Deer Island, Maine.
Some of his more recent work are studies in Maine wild life. These include life size wall pieces of herons, loons, hawks and woodpeckers.
Don’s wood shop and studio are at his home in western Maine. He lives with his wife Dr. Suzanne Best, a veterinarian, and all of her cats and dogs. They are another source of inspiration for his work.
