Barbara graduated with a BFA from Douglass College, Rutgers University in 1963. Her major field was Studio Art and her minor fields were Art Education and American Literature. After moving to Maine, she continued to take painting classes at MECA in Portland. She now paints and teaches others to paint. Barbara lives in Waterford, Maine with her husband. She shows her work throughout the state and has won numerous awards. She has studied with the master pastelist Albert Handell and has mentored with him for one year. She has also studied with Michael Ranucci of Auburn, Maine.
Barbara paints in pastel as well as oil and chooses her medium depending on her subject matter and how it speaks to her. Barbara says,“ I paint en plein air and also in my studio. Although I enjoy painting still lifes, I am particularly inspired by and attracted to the flowers and landscapes of Maine in all their seasons.”
