The Main Street Gallery, 426 Main Street, Norway, Maine continues its summer season with a First Friday Reception August 1, from 5-7 PM. The gallery will be exhibiting the work of fine artists and artisans living and working in Western Maine.
On display will be works by Beverly Lynds Laverdiere, the Western Maine Art Group’s Artist of the Month. She describes her approach:
“I have been painting for most of my adult life, usually people or objects. People paintings, not portraits, are an expression of their feeling for or connection with the moment. Landscapes are rare among my works. I concentrate on small areas or objects such as shorelines or old boats.
“I take thousands of photos for a wealth of information. I feel free to interpret and rearrange but always try to express the reason a subject attracted my attention.”
Please join us at our opening and view the collection of original arts, mosaics, landscapes, figurative paintings, still life paintings, jewelry, and more.
Summer hours continue through September. The Main Street gallery is open Monday through Saturday, 10 AM to 4 PM. Also, the Matolscy Center, at 480 Main Street, is open Thursday through Saturday from 1:00 to 4:00 with an exhibition of WMAG founders, including works by Lajos Matolscy.
