Matolcsy Arts Center

The Western Maine Art Group (WMAG), is headquartered in the Lajos Matolcsy Arts Center, formerly the first school house in Norway, at 480 Main Street, during its art season from May through October. At other times you may contact us through the Main Street Gallery or via westernmaineartgroup @

During the season visitors are welcome to view exhibits of paintings, photography, sculptures and hand-crafted jewelry---all the work of local Maine artisans and WMAG members. A busy season with exciting themed artwork and special events, student art shows, and art lectures are planned for this year. Art classes will be held in the Matolcsy Arts Center during the summer as well. Plan on visiting often throughout the season.

Main Street Gallery

Just down the street from the Matolcsy Arts Center is the Main Street Gallery, an intimate, home-like space filled with color from a variety of mediums. Landscapes, florals, still life, sculptures, jewelry, pens, mini-paintings and more beckon visitors. Twenty-five WMAG artists are represented in the gallery. Exhibits are changed often and a First Friday Artist of the Month Reception celebrates new work with a 10% discount throughout the gallery.

The Gallery is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 am to 4 pm; closed Sundays and Mondays.
